It has just been confirmed that the camping site bordering Mijas & Fuengirola municipal border is going to receive investment and be converted in the Costa del Sol's first luxury camping site!
The remodelling project of the old Mijas-Fuengirola campsite will receive an investment of 1.1 million, to build 195 plots with all kinds of services and amenities
The project, announced by the Mijas Town Hall, has already started work and will remodel the 40,000 square meter plot of land between the Malaga municipalities of Mijas and Fuengirola. The execution period is around 18 months.
Three types of accommodation will be built, which will include a bungalow area, another for open camping and a third for motorhomes/caravans. In addition, local services will be improved and there will be all kinds of leisure options which will include a restaurant, a leisure club, a games room, a supermarket, a park and a children's club, sports facilities to practice at least three sports ; a parking area, an outdoor sports circuit and swimming pools for children and adults.
In total there will be 195 plots, of which 105 units are for mobile or prefabricated homes that will be of different 'luxury' categories. In addition, there will be a further 18 bungalows and 72 free camping spots. But this will not only benefit the camping site by neighbouring properties who will be able to access it from Calle Tejón, Camino la Ponderosa and Calle de los Chopos.
The minimum plot is going to be 70 square meters, a fact that added to a series of new conditions regarding the bathrooms and urbanization modules cause that status of luxury and comfort where direct contact with nature and the sea is sought in a comfortable immersion”, Ruiz pointed out.
The Mijas Town Hall has already processed the building license and the demolition of the previous constructions has already begun.
From Urban Planning they hope that this project will help promote the area from the tourist point of view. The campsite is located just a few meters from the beach, which is why the urban developers have preferred to continue this activity, instead of promoting a commercial centre.
